Handwoven Natural Bolga Basket - Large Round

Bolga baskets take their name from the Bolgatanga region of Ghana, long known for this style of tight, coiled grass weaving passed down through generations of artisans. This large round version carries that history in elephant grass, finished with fabric-wrapped handles.

At roughly 15" in diameter and 12" tall, it moves easily between jobs — a market basket one day, a planter basket or overflow laundry storage the next.

Woven, Not Molded

Every coil is placed by hand, one at a time, so the exact width and color shift slightly piece to piece — the kind of small variation a machine can't replicate, and part of what makes it a genuine Bolga basket rather than a lookalike.

Keeping Its Shape

Elephant grass holds up well to regular use and handling — wipe down with a damp cloth as needed, and keep it away from standing water so the coil stays tight over time.
