A serving tool with a shape worth noticing.
These Olive Wood Spiral Salad Servers are hand-carved in Kenya from fallen olive trees, rather than trees cut specifically for the wood. Each piece is rubbed with sunflower oil to bring out the natural grain and protect the finish, then finished with a spiral handle that sets it apart from a plain wooden server.
They're a Fair Trade piece made by a growing team of Kenyan woodcarvers, a craft that's brought new work to a new generation of carvers since 2009.
Using fallen olive wood instead of harvested trees means each set already has a bit of a story before it's shaped, and it keeps the craft sustainable at the source. Because it's entirely hand-carved, no two sets are quite identical.
Tossing and serving a big salad at the table. A gift alongside a good olive oil or salad bowl. A serving tool that's as much a conversation piece as it is functional.
Approximately 12" x 3.5". Hand-carved olive wood, finished with sunflower oil. Handcrafted in Kenya. Care: hand wash only. Size and grain vary slightly piece to piece.
Weeknight salads and dinner parties alike. A thoughtful hostess or housewarming gift. Anyone who wants their serving tools to look intentional, not just functional.
Even a salad server can be worth reaching for, when it's made this well.
