Where engineered order meets a warm evening glow.
Some designs whisper their inspiration. The Drum Lamp wears its influences beautifully: the disciplined symmetry of Bernd and Hilla Becher's photographs of industrial structures, and the equally strict order nature keeps — mushroom gills, flower petals, light bending through glass. Designer Christopher Merchant folded all of it into one timeless table-lamp profile.
The result is a lamp that feels both familiar and quietly surprising. From across the room, a classic silhouette. Up close, a finely ridged surface that catches light in soft vertical bands — texture you'll find yourself running a thumb along without deciding to.
Merchant designed the Drum to let the character of 3D printing show — the precision, the pattern, the layer-by-layer build — rather than sanding it into anonymity. Each lamp is printed to order in Wooj's small Brooklyn studio, which means no warehouse of extras, no waste, and small variations in color and texture that make every piece one of a kind.
The ridged shade diffuses light into a warm, even glow with gentle shadow lines — sculptural enough to anchor a console or living room shelf, calm enough for a bedside. It elevates a room without demanding attention.
Full-size wired table lamp. Designed in collaboration with Christopher Merchant. 3D printed and assembled to order in Brooklyn, New York. Minor variations in color and texture are part of the process. Also available as the cordless Mini Drum.
Living rooms, consoles, and entry tables that need an anchor piece. Bedrooms where the light should feel considered, not incidental. Design lovers who appreciate a story they can point to. A wedding or housewarming gift with actual staying power.
Good design holds order and warmth at the same time. This one proves it nightly.
