A small symbol of a steady kind of love, friendship, and standing with someone.
Hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone by Kenya-made artisans in Tabaka, this Circle of Friends sculpture is a small, grounding reminder that you don't have to carry things alone. The interlocked figures represent the people who stand with you, through ordinary days and harder seasons alike.
Each piece is carved from one stone, then sanded and waxed through several stages to a smooth, satiny finish. Because soapstone is a natural material, no two pieces match exactly, color runs from cream to pink, gold, and gray depending on the piece.
Tabaka, Kenya is known as the heart of soapstone craft, and this small-batch piece comes from SMOLArt, a group of artisans working there since 1990. Mining and carving soapstone is slow, mostly hand-tool work, part of why a piece this small still carries so much craft behind it.
Approximately 3" tall, 3"-3.5" diameter. Material: natural Kisii soapstone. Finish: smooth, satin wax. Color varies naturally piece to piece. Care: handle gently, soapstone is a soft stone and can chip or break if dropped.
A comfort gift for a friend going through a hard season, a loss, or a big transition. A quiet reminder on a desk, shelf, or nightstand that you're supported. A friendship gift for anyone who prefers a small, meaningful object over a big gesture.
Gift it to a friend who needs to feel held, or keep it where you'll see it and remember you're not carrying things alone.
Pair it with a compass soapstone sculpture for direction and support →
