This wave basket is handwoven in Ghana from elephant grass, banded in black, orange, and natural stripes that give it its name and its rhythm. No two coils lay identically, which is the difference between handwork and a mold.
At roughly 14" in diameter and 8" tall, it holds its shape as a shallow, open basket, equally at home catching mail on an entryway table or holding folded throws on an open shelf.
The color comes from the grass itself, along with the way it's dyed and woven, so the shades vary naturally from piece to piece. That variation is part of buying handmade rather than a printed pattern.
